Most Influential Blogger Award

With that odd sensation of feeling simultaneously both humbled and flattered, I share the news that the fey Eily Nash, who does the wonderful blog “Gossamer Threads” (www.eilynash.com),  has nominated me for the Most Influential Blogger Award.  Thank you so much Eily; I am very honored that you would add me to your list.

The rules for accepting the nomination include the requirement of posting a current favorite song. What immediately came to mind was Leonard Cohen’s haunting and remarkable “Hallelujah” that I’ve been listening to again lately.  Here is my favored version, the cover done by Jeff Buckley:

The song has many layers, but at one level it is a poignant anthem to the absolute and unconditional acceptance of the wound of being human, of praising the glory of the experience of life, no matter how painful it has proven to be.    This excerpt from the book, “The Holy or the Broken” that was written about the song really helps one to fully grasp its brilliance:

Accepting the nomination also gives one the opportunity to share the blogs one has found to be the most influential and to nominate them in turn.  There are many great blogs that could be listed and I had to make some difficult choices, but after giving it some thought here are my nominations:

1.http://debibradford.wordpress.com  Debi has become a dear friend here on WordPress, and, among other things, we share a love of photographing sunrises. I have found her photos to have  an exceptional soulful quality that are mirrored by her reflective words.

2.http://ninaochiolino.wordpress.com  I forget how I stumbled upon this amazing French Photographer, but the vibrancy that Julie brings to her photos is simply stunning.

3.http://havehest.wordpress.com  Ann Novak shares her nature photography from Sweden.   She seems to be out in the natural world all the time!  Like Ann, I’ve been an avid bird watcher;  she frequently expands my birding horizons with pictures of birds native to her land.

4.http://naturehasnoboss.wordpress.com   Another great nature photography blog,    Michael Bizeau & Christine Schultheis share their photos from Colorado.    And I so like the title of their blog, it resonates every time I see it when their posts come up in my Reader.

5.http://laurabruno.wordpress.com Laura’s blog is a wonderful blend of all things spiritual.   One is always uplifted by spending some time reading her posts.

6.http://taniamarieartist.wordpress.com Tania is another wonderful spiritual blogger who posts lots of great info, and, as it turn out, is a good friend of Laura’s.   Amidst all of us blogging from far-flung corners of who knows where, it’s just kinda cool knowing that these two gifted women are friends in the world outside of the blogosphere.

7.http://sharoncummings.wordpress.com/blog-posts/   Sharon is a remarkable artist who uses a variety of techniques that I can’t quite put into words.  So I’ll let her artwork speak for itself.  Check it out.

8.http://htfisker.com/blog/   Hanne T. Fisker seems to be a world traveler who blends her extraordinary landscape photos with incisive poetry.

9.http://eddietwohawks.wordpress.com   I have a deep appreciation for Eddie’s posts and his approach to blogging.  I think there may considerable overlap in the paths that he and I have traveled.

10.http://ladybluerose.wordpress.com   Maryrose has an exceptionally lovely blog that visually and poetically transports one to the beauties of her universe.

Each of you, with your frequent posts that share your unique gifts in your own unique ways,  has touched me.  If you choose to accept the nomination (and of course it is your choice, feel free to decline if does it not resonate with your intents), these are the rules as they’ve been handed down to me:

The Rules are as follows:

1. Display the Award on your Blog

2. Announce your win with a blog post, thanking the blogger who awarded you. This award may NOT be included together with a “basket” or a “lump” of any other awards. It is special.

3. Present 10 deserving Bloggers with the Award.

4. Link your awardees in the post and let them know with a comment.

5. Included an imbedded video of your current favorite song (You Tube has everything). Just copy & paste into your WordPress Editor. If a video is not possible, please embed a Sound CloudTrac.

footnote: speaking of synchronistities, this was one TV later in the evening after I published this post ~

My experience is not dissimilar from hers and this video brings tears to my eyes every time I watch it. Very moving.

  1. Congratulations on the award. I could not help but be overwhelmed by sinchronicity upon seeing this blog entry, for just yesterday I was listening to this song, this same video and cover, which is among my favourite songs of all time.

    • Thank you, Oloriel. Always very gratifying to hear of the synchronicities, so thank you for sharing. It raises the question though, to what are you saying “Hallelujah” to these days?

  2. Cnawan! First of all, congratulation on receiving the Most Influential blogger Award! And your choice of song is beautiful beyond measure and I too, enjoy much Jeff Buckleys version of it.
I can’t thank you enough for your immensely kind words and for nominating me. I’m honored and touched that what I love doing has even the slightest influence to anyone. I deeply appreciate these awards, I really do, however I will humbly decline it, since the work and effort I want to put into them to honor them properly will keep me away from putting my energy where I feel the pull and I do hope that I share my appreciation for the blogs here on wordpress by my sincere comments.
A beautiful day to you Cnawan
    Thank you again!

  4. Merci beaucoup Cnawan pour cette nomination, je suis touchée 😉 Désolée de te répondre que aujourd’hui, mais j’ai des problèmes avec mon ordinateur… Bonne journée et à bientôt !

  5. Thank you for sharing those names – I look forward to looking at them all, and congratulations on a well deserved nomination – and what a truly beautiful story of that young singer 🙂 Lovely blog post, thank you.
